About Us

Steel Design Services Ltd® has expanded its drawing office capacity the last five years, but still remains a family run and owned business. We can be best described as an old school traditional drawing office using the best that modern technology can buy. We have put together a mixture of young and experienced detailers with various backgrounds including engineering, estimating, document control, fabrication and including an architect.

Despite our team’s previous experience, all of our team members undergo a strict training programme with regular tool box talks and are all members of the NSDA, National Steel Detailers Association. This ensures that our projects are completed with an efficient and accurate system, using standard details and practices and ensuring good detailing habits. All of our team members understand the importance and cost of fabrication and erection and are happy to coordinate with the design team to enable the most cost effective way of producing connections and erectable structures. Our in house checking procedures ensures that all of our team member’s check and counter check all details and dimensions before any drawing leaves our company for approval or construction.

Our unique in house document control system enables us to track all drawings and documents throughout the duration of the project, this includes, comments, revisions, RFIs, design team drawings, updates, approvals and finally construction and AsBuilt drawings. Weekly progress reports are issued to all of our clients showing the exact status of every drawing and document at every stage of the project.
